The IgG test for SARS-CoV-2 Mpro detects IgG and IgA antibodies against the main viral protease (Mpro or 3CLpro), which plays a major role in viral replication. The Mpro protein is a very immunogenic non-structural antigen that is critical to viral reproduction and is released by infected cells.

The expansion of contagion of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is still one of the main challenges being faced by health professionals. Therefore, in addition to the importance of developing techniques aimed at detecting the virus (PCR and antigen test) we must continue developing and perfecting serological techniques that can detect specific antibodies, whose role is decisive in developing immunity against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. At Eurofins Megalab we remain committed to scientific innovation, and to this end we are constantly working and updating the newest techniques available on the market.

Why should you know whether you have generated antibodies?

Assessing the patient’s immune response would allow for a safer return to work and to social life.

How do I purchase the test?

All you need to do is come to our blood-drawing centres with the receipt that is sent to you with your purchase. There is NO need for appointment at our Madrid capital centres. Your results will be ready in 24/48 hours.

Why take the test?

The ratio of IgG and IgA antibodies for SARS-CoV-2 regarding the Mpro viral protein in human serum or plasma is correlated to the immune response of patients who have been in contact with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

  • Ratio below 0.8: Negative (Non-reactive)
  • Ratio between 0.8-1.1: Inconclusive
  • Ratio above 1.1: Positive (Reactive)

What technique is used?

The technique applied is ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay).
